Banh Mi Boys & 12 O'Lunch Bibimbap

I love trying new restaurants but honestly don't do it too often. I don't eat out often, so when I do, I sometimes hate to waste an "eating out night" on a restaurant that may not be A+. I've slowly learned that sometimes, though, that's half the fun so I've started to make an effort to try more around town.

Mr. C and I have a list of restaurants we want to try so we decided to give one of them a whirl this weekend.

I'm going to start with a place a friend introduced me to a while back that is so good. 12 O Lunch. Random name and it has even more random French interior decor for a Korean restaurant.

I would NOT consider it diet food. At all.

Both times I have gone, I have ordered their Bibambap which is served in a hot bowl with rice, mixture of veggies, chicken or beef, and an egg. Seriously so good. It's such an understated restaurant. You would never think anything special of it from the outside with it's ugly bright yellow sign and terrible name, but the service is excellent, food is so well prepared and delicious. Best of all, it's so affordable!

Saturday night Mr C and I decided to try out Banh Mi Boys which was featured on You Gotta Eat Here a few months back.

I had never had Vietnamese subs but man, it was delicious. I ordered a pork taco and he had a Banh Mi Kalbi Beef and we shared an order of Kimchi fries. Kimchi fries, where have you been all my life?!

Kimchi fries reminded me a lot of Fries Supreme at Taco Bell, haha!

Are you a fan of Korean food or Vietnamese subs?

  1. I don't eat a lot of Asian food. I've just started to like Thai food lately. We have a restaurant near me that sounds and looks very similar to the second restaurant you went to. It's supposed to be delicious! Might have to try it now after seeing your yummy pics!

  6. We love banh mi. Neither of us had every tried it and we had it off a food truck. There's no where that sells it close to us so Eric learned to make it and it is delicious!

  7. I LOVE bahn mi! There is a place near my office that I'm supposed to visit this week and I can't wait. Some Vietnamese coffee to wash it down and I'm in HEAVEN! And Bibimap is one of my favorite words to say, but I hate eggs so I don't eat it. Glad you had good experiences!

  9. I've never had Korean or Vietnamese food... I feel like I am missing out! I'm not even sure if we have any restaurants in our area. And our Taco Bell doesn't serve fries... so I've never had Fries Supreme before... or Kimchi fries! I'm so jealous of you right now!

  10. I've only had banh mi once, and it was delicious! You seem much more brave when it comes to trying new foods than I am :)
