Bright, Bold & Printed Shorts

I work in a corporate office where it's business attire Monday to Thursday and on Fridays we dress down slightly. Many moons ago when I was still in university and high school, I would typically have a summer job that required some sort of uniform so my casual summer outfits were always limited.

I've slowly started to build my non office attire wardrobe. A lot of my tops I wear to the office can be dressed down with jeans or shorts on the weekends and when I am shopping around, I really do look for versatility in different pieces. I also live in Ontario where we only have 3-4 months where shorts are acceptable (jealous of all you that live in warmer climates) so there is no need for me to have a closet full of shorts.

Last year I managed to find a style of shorts at Old Navy that I loved and really wish I had bought a few other colours as they don't make the same style anymore.

Sidenote about that photo - it was taken last summer when my boyfriend (who is now going to be called Mr. C here on out) and I went to NYC. I've travelled many times before and know that you're supposed to give change when you take a photo with one of those touristy "things" ...like a smurf. Except, it didn't even PHASE me that I had to give this Smurf change and he kept talking to me and following me but I couldn't hear what he/she was saying. I later realized I didn't give change, woops! Anyways, back to shorts!

This summer, I have been lusting over all the different prints and bright coloured shorts. My most recent purchase were these pretty eyelets from the Gap:

A Loft store just opened up around me and I have discovered that their shorts fit me well so I may splurge and get a pair of printed shorts like these:

I have also been eyeing these shorts from the Gap and even saw them in store but didn't have my size. Go check out Veronika over at Veronika's Blushing where she did a post today wearing these cute yellow and white shorts!

I wish I could wear shorts year round but come September I am always excited to start busting out the scarves, boots and warmer sweaters!!

Have you purchased any fun shorts lately?  Inspire me!

The Time It Took Me 6+ Months to do a Wall Gallery..

The title of this post ain't a joke.

You see, over the past few years I have really started to get into decorating. I think it largely came from the fact that I own my own condo now and I want it to feel homey. I could browse magazines/the internet for hours looking at home/condo inspirations. I love that it's also a creative outlet and you can make the atmosphere of any room however you like.

I've done a bunch of DIYs and I plan to share some of those items with you in the future. For now, it's all about the (non existent) wall gallery.

I have a fairly long wall in the hallway in my condo which has been needing some extra TLC for quite some time. Here she is:

Sad Wall
Now, way back in the winter a friend and I went thrift store shopping to try to be all super cool like Sherry over at Young House Love ! I found some amazing deals and was shocked at how cheap some of the frames were. I ended up coming home with 7-10 frames.

One weekend in the winter I painted all the frames white (sorry, don't have the exact colour anymore) with the vision of having most of the frames white with a few gold accents. Then, the frames sat in my front hall for 5+ months...

I walk by them multiple times each time hoping that they would miraculously hang by themselves. That hasn't happened yet so I am hoping sometime in the next month or so I will be able to update you all with a completed wall.

For now, here are some wall galleries that I am loving:

Midweek Randoms

Today I am linking up with the fabulous Megan over at In this Wonderful Life for a wonderful mishmash of random things happening.

1. The weather has made a turn and it is now SUNNY thanks for my lovely post from yesterday. Sadly, it's supposed to rain all weekend.

2. It's Canada Day long weekend this weekend! I cannot wait for an extra day off of work to relax and soak in the sun. I typically go to visit my dad in Ottawa for long weekends but since I will be there the following weekend (more on that later), I decided to stay in town.

Dad and I on Canada Day last year in Ottawa - don't mind the fact that he can't open his eyes :)

3. I really need to do an "about me" post. I don't even know if I have mentioned my name - ha! It's Sarah ;)

4. Today was a LONG day at work. You know when you have those days that just never ever end and you aren't crazy busy? Today was that day for me.

5. I need some new books for my Kobo. Any suggestions?

6. Why on EARTH do chicken pot pies have so many calories in them? So delicious and I'd eat it everyday if I could.

7. I'm thinking of getting a fun header for this blog since it's not looking so hot. Let me know if you have any recos!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

My goodness. We've been getting some serious rain lately. I am at least thankful that it is WARM now. Previously we were getting rain with cold temps which isn't fun, my friends!

Whenever it rains I think about all the cute rainboots, raincoats and umbrellas. I thought I'd share with you a few of my favourite rainy day items:

Pink Hunter boots? Yes please! I actually tried on Hunter boots not too long ago and they were SO heavy. Does anyone else notice that? Perhaps it was just me and my lazy legs.

And this is basically the most adorable effort ever - le sigh:

I have a trench coat from Zara that I got a few years ago. I wouldn't really call it a raincoat because let's face it, it doesn't have a hood and it's not water repellent but at least it keeps me semi dry. Here is a similiar coat to the one I have:

(sidenote: I have no clue if I am doing this whole sourcing thing right...likely not ha!)

Back in university I actually didn't own any sort of rain coat/trench coat. One day in second year, it was POURING rain and I was going to be on campus all day. I literally ran to the mall, randomly bought a North Face coat (90$ - I seriously don't even recall trying it on) and it lasted me up until last year. It then started to fall apart of me. I have since repurchased a North Face black jacket that I use when it's big time rainy. I actually got it at Winners (the equivalent of your TJ Max for all you US people!) for a really great deal. It's definitely not in the "fashion forward" category but it's semi cute and keeps my dry and some days that's all I need!

I always feel like I look like a drowned rat when it's raining. What are your favourite rainy day items? Here's to hoping we see some sun soon!!!!

Here we go!

Hi everyone!

Before I begin on this blogging adventure, I wanted to start off by saying that I have been wanting a blog for quite some time but never really could bring myself to start one. What would I write about? Who would read it or even be interested in my life? Would it even be fun for me? I love looking at blogs and have for 3-4 years now. I love reading about other peoples lives, cooking stories, decorating ideas, fashion and the list goes on and on.
I really don't know where this blog will end up or how long I will keep it up but I figure there is no better time to start than today!

Here we go - a new adventure!
